A Conference for New Principals will be
held Tuesday and Wednesday, July 31-August 1, at Holiday Inn Select, 2200
I-70 Drive SW, in Columbia. This workshop is co-sponsored by MAESP and MASSP.
New administrators are encouraged to attend this professional
development workshop for new principals and assistant principals based on
the ISLLC Standards. A variety of topics pertinent to new principals and
assistant principals
will be addressed to help them launch their administrative careers on a positive
note. Experienced administrators and representatives from DESE will serve
as facilitators. Topics will include:
*Requirements of Principal Certification
*The Mentoring Process
*Professional Learning Communities as an Instructional Model
*Networking for Success
*Legal Issues
*Data: What's Really Important
*The Principal's Role in Special Education
Also, a pre-conference workshop will be offered on the topic of Performance
Based Teacher Evaluation (PBTE). This three-hour workshop will provide new
administrators with important information and tips on how to effectively
evaluate their teachers. You may register for just the New Principals Conference,
the PBTE Workshop or for both. See the prices below and note the discount
if you register for both.
