Long-Range
Planning
Every two or three years, the MASA President appoints
a Long Range Planning Committee to survey the MASA membership and compile
a list
of goals for the association to strive to achieve. These recommendations
are submitted to the MASA membership for consideration and, ultimately,
approval.
In 2004-2005 a new Long
Range Planning Committee surveyed the MASA membership and proposed
a new
set of
Long Range Goals. The current MASA Long Range Plans, adopted
April 12, 2005 are as follows:
1. Place emphasis on the use of technology to disseminate
information to members and to provide training.
2. Research the feasibility of conducting a statewide salary schedule
and/or coordinating the current MASA District salary surveys.
3. Work with the MASA District leadership to provide a stronger informal
mentoring program for new superintendents.
4. Place emphasis on full utilization of new facility by
a. Providing increased professional development opportunities for
members
b. Developing community use policies to enhance association revenues
c. Adding necessary personnel resources to allow for efficient use
and to ensure the education center is well maintained.
5. Place emphasis on development of leadership skills for school
administrators as outlined in “Leadership Grant” approved
by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE).
