LEADERSHIP LEGACY CONSORTIUM

MASA and MCSA Outreach are excited to announce the formation of a fourth Leadership Legacy Consortium (LLC). This advanced training in McREL’s research-based Balanced Leadership Model will be available to Missouri superintendents and central office administrators during the 2008-09 school year. McREL developed the Balanced Leadership Model based on information from a meta-analysis of leadership studies conducted over the past twenty years.   Their analysis proved definitively that “leadership does matter”.  They identified distinct responsibilities school leaders have that are directly tied to improved student achievement. Training in the model is available exclusively from the Missouri Association of School Administrators (MASA) through the Leadership Legacy Consortium.

More than seventy-five Missouri superintendents have attended this extremely well received training. Participants encouraged us to begin a fourth Consortium to continue to provide the training to other Missouri superintendents.  Their comments include:

  • Extremely useful information in a thought provoking format.
  • I am very interested in this content.  I can use if right away.
  • The interesting stories allow us to reflect upon our past experiences and current situations.
  • Very Useful!
  • Useful, now, in my school!
  • Very engaging, I am able to reflect on this material in relationship to my work.
  • Great days – gives a lot to think about – affirms what is being done – ideas to take back to my school.
  • Wonderful balance of demand and implementation.
  • Informative, fast paced, useful.
  • The best professional development I’ve attended.

The Consortium will consist of approximately 30 learning-focused superintendents from around the state who are dedicated change agents in Missouri schools.  It will meet for four, two-day sessions during the next year. While being exposed to the latest research, participants will have opportunities to collaborate with their peers as they operationalize their learning.  Sessions will be comprised of a careful blend of research and practical application.

The consortium will meet at the MCSA building in Jefferson City on September 18 & 19, October 27 & 28, December 8 & 9 and January 12 & 13.
There is a $200 per person cost reduction in cost for teams of three or more.

Cost: $1200
