Safe and Secure
In August 2008, Missouri Auditor Susan Montee released her audit of the Missouri Safe Schools Initiatives. This document reviewed school safety policies, violence prevention programs, and other documents and procedures directly related to the safety of students and staff.
This conference will provide attendees with a summary of the audit, a review of Missouri Law related to school safety, and cost effective, efficient, and practical strategies that can be used within a school district to comply with legal requirements.
Suggested Attendees: Superintendents, Principals, Safety Coordinators, and School Resource Officers (post certification hours will be awarded)
Penney Rector serves as the Director of Legal Services for the Missouri Council of School Administrators and provides legal assistance to members of MAESP and MASA. In addition, Penney serves as the legislative coordinator for the School Administrators Coalition. Priorto joining MCSA in 2002, Penney served as an Assistant Attorney General with the Office of the Missouri Attorney General. Judy Brunner is a former teacher and principal at the elementary, middle, and high school level. Dennis Lewis is the former director of school policing for an urban/suburban school district. They are co-founders of Edu-Safe LLC and together have over 50 years of experience in providing safe schools for students and staff.
